VW-Made Cars Top What Car? Customer Survey

Volkswagen-made vehicles have taken six of the top 10 slot in a survey of car-owner satisfaction.

In total seven German-made cars made the list, reinforcing the belief in the country's design and build superiority.

The 2014 What Car?/JD Power survey found that the Volkswagen Up! to be top among owners, followed by the Golf Plus.

Third was the Skoda-badged, Volkswagen-owned, Yeti.

This was followed by the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, VW's Scirocco and its Tiguan.

The Skoda Octavia shared equal seventh with the Lexus CT200h and Volvo's V70/XC70.

Jaguar's XF was number 10 on the top model list.

The VW Up! was What Car?'s 2012 car of the year, and the satisfaction survey comprises four separate areas.

These include vehicle appeal (performance, design, comfort and features), vehicle quality and reliability, ownership costs and dealer service satisfaction.

What Car? editor Jim Holder said: "The Volkswagen Group deserves special congratulations for having six cars in the top 10.

"It is clearly building cars that have showroom appeal and, even more importantly, deliver in real life.

"Cars that perform in customer satisfaction surveys are a great recommendation for car buyers and act as a great barometer to a car's quality."

Bottom of the full list was the Chevrolet Spark in 109th position. Just above it was the Alfa Romeo Mito and the Citroen C3.

The survey took place during the first quarter of the year, registering opinions from 15,000 drivers on car models registered between January 2011 and December 2012.
